About the Club

Hadleigh Swimming Club was formed soon after the opening of the pool in 1971, following many years of fund raising by the local community.  It was one of the first covered pools outside of Ipswich, and generated a tremendous amount of interest in the area.  Hadleigh Swimming Club started off with an initial membership of over 400   -   mainly children and adults who could not swim!!!

Within two years the club had made a significant mark on swimming in Suffolk, generating a number of Suffolk Champions, Schools Champions and Suffolk Team members.  A further number of swimmers went on to be very successful in competitive Life Saving.  In the early days Hadleigh could even beat the mighty Ipswich Swimming Club at their own pool (St.  Matthews).

Since those days our fortunes have varied, but we have always enjoyed our swimming  and the special interaction that exists amongst swimmers and families alike.

Today Hadleigh Swimming Club has a membership of 150.  We compete in Galas and Open Competitions up to County Standard, in and out of the Suffolk area.  In recent years the Committee and Supporters of the club have worked hard to build a strong structure on which the club can maintain sustainable growth  -  we were the first club in Suffolk to be affiliated to SWIM21.  Still early days but this has paid off with Hadleigh swimmers being selected to swim for the County, and reaching the Finals at the Suffolk Championships.

The club has a growing contingent of adult swimmers of varying abilities (though no non-swimmers) which has now developed to the point where we provided three members of the Suffolk Masters Swimming Team at the recent Inter Counties Masters event.

Come down and look us over, or contact us to organise a trial.
