HSC Presentation Evening

Hadleigh dolphins held their Annual Club presentations evening at the Town Hall on Saturday 2nd February.   This is a great family occasion where all members and swimmers at the club can join with family, friends and supporters of the club and celebrate swimmer' s achievements from both the, teaching and coaching sections of the club for the last year.

We also take time to remember all the members of the committee (who manage the finances of the club and organise day-to-day running). Also the Teaching and coaching Staff and all the parents and volunteers who help at galas and behind the scenes, making the club the well oiled swimming machine that it is!

Incentives awards were presented to various swimmers.  These are 1, 2 or 3 dolphin flashes representing  the number of Gala appearances for the club, culminating in a silver hat for 30 appearances and the sought after, Gold hat for 50 appearances.

One dolphin Flash (5 gala appearances) were presented to; Amy Pettitt, Bronwyn Cottrell, Lucy Evans, Rachel White, Henry Mackenzie, James Honeywood and Lewis Kempson.

Two Dolphin Flashes (15 Gala appearances) were awarded to: Alanah Barton, Charlotte Mackenzie, Lucy Greenway, Rebeccah Mann, Adam Cottrell .

Three Flashes (25 Gala appearances) to: Bethan Highland, Georgia Howard, Ben Olive, Harry Smith, Luke Bunce, Matt D'Souza and Richard Goodchild.

Club Silver Hats (30 appearances) to; Collette Bunce and Lucy Mackenzie.

Finally, A rare Gold hat (50 appearances) to: Georgia Barton and Nathan Garrity.

Many Trophies were awarded, some dating back to the 1970's, These are for age group and open and master swimmers. (See full results below)

The top  7 trophies were awarded for, Male Masters and Female Masters, Top Boy and Top Girl, Endeavour Trophies for male and female and the Victor Ladorum Trophy for the overall swimmer who has accrued  most points in swims over the whole club championships .

Richard Goodchild lifted the Male Masters trophy and Sue D'Souza the Female Masters winner.

The Endeavour Trophies are awarded to a male and a female swimmer whom competed enthusiastically across many races, did not finish first but accumulated the most points.  This was Harrison Moore aka Barry and Shan Bendall (female Captain).

Top Girl Trophy was awarded to Lucy Mackenzie, winner of 25 races, setting 22 PB's, 13 club champ records and 13 HSC records.

Top Boy Trophy went to Tom Olive (Male Captain) winner of 21 races, setting 24 PB's, 14 club champ records and 12 HSC records.

Winner of the Victor Ladorum trophy with most points was Tom Olive.

Sharon Tan (chairman) comperred the evening and we were joined by Steve Mitchell (former Chariman and all-things-known-to-swimming), Helen Salisbury (former Chairman), Laura Salisbury (master swimmer, Vice- chair and teacher) and Kern Death (master swimmer and new Head Coach), all of whom presented the awards to the swimmers.

Following the speeches , in which Coach Kern Death named Amy Pettitt and Brian Russell as his "swimmer of the Month" winners and presentations , much food and beverages were consumed,  followed by some serious boogeying.

Well Done and congratulations to all the incentive award winners and trophy winners.  A BIG thank you to all the committee members who laid on such a memorable event.  Thanks go to all the guests who presented and all the parents who brought some lovely food and continue to support the swimmers and members all year around.

2007 proved to be a year of positive change for the dolphins, with A new head coach and coaching team, successes in the County Championships, Regional Championships and Development Championships , League Galas and Open Meets.  Many Novice swimmers joined the squad competing for the first time and even the oldies brought home medals from the Regional masters Championships.  New swimmers joined the teaching section and many within teaching, achieved new badges and moved up groups.

COME ON DOLPHINS, Lets build on these successes and make 2008 even better!
