Hadleigh Dolphins hosted the
Warnes Novice Gala against holder's Halstead S.C and Leiston S.C. at
Hadleigh Pool, Hadleigh. Dolphins performed well, Out of 26 individual
swims 19 Personal best (PB's) times and 3 New Times with 1 county
qualifier were achieved. There were no team disqualifications either.
Many swimmers were swimming in their first Gala-quite a different
experience from the recent Club Championships, some were from the early
coaching group and a few from the teaching section of the club, so there
were a few nervous little dolphins!
Special mentions go to Rebecca
Mann aged 11 years who secured a county qualification time and a first
place in the 50m Back stroke. We wish her well in March 2008.
New times were recorded by
Bronwyn Cottrell, Sean Brennan and Oliver Fenn.
First Places were achieved by:
Ben Olive 11 years in 50m Back, Matt D'Souza in 50m Fly and 50m Breast,
Alanah Barton in 25m Fly and Charlotte Mackenzie in 50m Free. Two first
places were secured by The Boys 10U 4x 25m free with Alistair Grant,
Edward Seeley, Max Griffin and James Bark and The Girls Mixed age 4x25m
medley relay, with, Anna Syddell, Alanah Barton, Collette Bunce and
Rebecca Mann.
A BIG "thank you" goes to all 4 Captains and
vice-Captains (Tom Olive, Shan Bendall, Nathan Garrity and Kezia Tan)
who helped calm nerves and organized competitors for their races, also
to all the parents who helped to announce and officiate. There was a
really good crowd of spectators and we ran out of programmes, proving
that Hadleigh Town needs and values a local Pool and Club. Team
Manager, Laura Salisbury was very proud of all the swimmers and the
support shown. see
